About The Dairy Flat

 

Extensively refurnished for the 2021 season, and now further enhanced with the installation of a brand-new private roof terrace for 2022, this well-appointed one-bedroom (sleeps 2) self-catering flat is poised at the heart of one of the most desirable areas to stay on St Mary’s, Isles of Scilly.  Spacious and tastefully furnished with an emphasis on unfussy simplicity with a sprinkling of modern and colourful local artwork.

Centrally located yet being reasonably distanced from the main hub of the town, adds to the Flat’s special appeal. Shops, cafes, pubs, hairdressers, churches, arts and crafts galleries, glorious beaches, and the quay are all within short, easy walking distances.

 

Enjoy breath taking panoramic views from the bedroom and living room windows, and now the new terrace.  Watch the daily bustle on the quay and Town beach, or gaze at the off islands:  Samson, Bryher and Tresco on the skyline.  Sunset vistas are a particular highlight from The Dairy Flat.

THE LOUNGE

​

The cheerful lounge/diner is a welcoming and relaxed space – flooded with natural light from two large windows and a patio door which opens onto the terrace.  Enjoy a leisurely breakfast with the wonderful backdrop of St Mary’s town beach and unwind at the end of a day’s explorations whilst being treated to some of the most spectacular sunsets on the island.

THE KITCHEN

​

A brand-new kitchen has been installed (winter 2022) which completes the improvements and upgrades made to the Flat in recent years.  The modern kitchen is fitted with an electric double oven and induction hob, stylish co-ordinated microwave oven, toaster, and kettle, undercounter fridge, and a slimline dishwasher. A small countertop freezer is located in the lobby as is a washer/dryer.

THE BEDROOM

​

The light and spacious bedroom is beautifully furnished with solid oak units, and there is plenty of storage for clothes and other belongings. The beds can be configured for one King size double or twin singles.  

 

Linen is sourced from an established local business and laundered to the highest standard of cleanliness and hygiene, with tightly controlled use of water and chemicals to reduce the environmental impact.

THE BATHROOM

​

The modern ensuite bathroom is furnished with a close coupled WC, hand wash basin, de-mister mirror light cupboard with integral shaver point, towel rails and a heated towel rail for extra comfort.  An improved mixer shower has been installed for 2023 and large in-cupboard hot water cylinder to supply the whole flat.

 

ACCESS

 

The Dairy Flat   is  part of  the   building   known   as The Dairy, which  was  originally  constructed  for   St Mary’s milk processing and bottling plant, hence its name.  It can be reached from Higher Strand via a flight of 7 external steps with handrail on the side of the building.  The building can also be approached from Church Street, on the level. The Flat is clearly signed. 

 

Enter the Flat’s lobby where there are 3 carpeted steps with handrail which lead up to the living area, after which the accommodation is on one level.

Bookings are for full weeks only.  Sorry, we do not offer short breaks.

A 25% deposit is required to secure your booking on a first come, first served basis.

Balances are payable 8 weeks before the start date.

We accept payment by bank transfer and personal cheques.

 

 

CHANGEOVER day is FRIDAY   

 

Access to the accommodation is from 4pm on your day of arrival.

 

Please Note:

* Assistance dogs are very welcome, otherwise pets are not permitted.

* We cannot accommodate children under 12 years of age.

 

* The Dairy is a non-smoking / non-vaping building.
